Let me ask you a question.
Take your time and answer yourself honestly.
How does the food that you eat serve you?
Here is a better question: How does the food that you eat serve God?
Like most things in life, when we rely on our own strength and do things strickly for ourselves, it often leads to failure. When we can look outside of our own selves and realize that eating and caring for our bodies the way that God intended for us is an act of praise and worship to Him, it makes our health journey enjoyable, rewarding, and achievable! God extends His love and grace to us daily and I believe that our health is no exception, but He makes it clear in His Word what He expects from us. I have listed a few verses below to help you remember what God says and expects of us and the way we treat ourselves. How can we glorify Him if we aren't health and lack the energy to do so?
1 Corinthians 10:31 "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." NKJV
-We can glorify God by the way we take care of ourselves! He wants us to be healthy, happy, and able! When we eat healthy and exersize daily, it is truly an act of worship! We are responsible for taking care of all that God gives us. Our bodies and mind included.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's." NKJV
--We were bought at a price. Thats impactful. Our bodies are not even ours! They belong to God and we have been given the privlege and responsibility of caring for them. You wouldn't trash your friends car if they let you borrow it, would you? Then why would we neglect to care for what God has let us borrow?
Romans 12:1-2 "I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptabe and perect will of God." NKJV
--We are given the chance every single day to deny ourselves and our desires to follow Him. We can be a living sacrifice to God by denying ourselves daily of the junk food that we crave!
